(719) 262-3032 The Program Director/Internship Coordinator is Mr. Ed Kelbel, Kelbel has been a Class A member of the PGA of America since 1984. His internships prior to that included stops at golf courses in Florida, California and Michigan in the private, public, resort and municipal golf venues. He became a Head Golf Professional at age 24 and then worked his way up to becoming a Director of Golf and part owner at an upscale public facility. His professional playing accomplishments include taking three teams to the national finals of the Oldsmobile Scramble in Florida as well as recently winning the John Deere Club Professional-Superintendent 2 player national championship qualifier in Michigan. He currently holds four course records at golf courses in his home state. Golf careers run in the family. His two brothers are PGA professionals and his father and grandfather were golf professionals as well. Combined, they have made 12 Hole In One's! Ed has been active in his community by serving on the local Chamber of Commerce Board and Rotary Club in cities where he has worked.
Ed was a High School All-American and State Champion Golfer and an All-State Basketball player. He then went on to play for Michigan State as a scholarship athlete in golf where he played in the Big Ten Championship and was a Varsity Letter Winner. After earning a Business Marketing degree from MSU in 1981, he furthered his education by gaining a Masters Degree from Ferris State University in Occupational Education in 1989.

Academic Advisor Dr. Paul Miller

(719) 262-3590 The Academic Advisor is Dr. Paul Miller, who is also Professor of Accounting in the College of Business. Starting early in 2000, Paul headed up the extensive team-based effort at UCCS to create the PGM Program and obtain initial accreditation from the PGA. His present responsibilities involve working with the curriculum, the faculty, the admissions process, and especially the students. He is very pleased to have a position that combines his dual loves for young people and golf. Paul joined the business faculty in 1988, moving to Colorado Springs from Washington, DC, where he had been serving on the staff of the Securities & Exchange Commission. Prior to that, he had been a long time member of the faculty at the University of Utah. He also served on the staff of the prestigious Financial Accounting Standards Board. In addition to his success in bringing PGM to UCCS, Paul has been a busy author, with more than 15 books to his name, and more than 200 other publications. He is sought out by journalists and others for his views, and is a frequent speaker on topics related to financial reporting and regulation. Paul continues to teach in the accounting area while serving as the program's academic director. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and holds two other degrees from Rice University.
